Spring Classic Homepage
We are excited to continue our 18-year long partnership with Special Olympics Texas and host our annual Spring Classic softball tournament. This years event will take place on MARCH 28th, 2026, at the Krieg Softball Complex in Austin, Texas.
What is Spring Classic?
Spring Classic is Texas Iron Spikes’ signature annual philanthropic event, benefiting Special Olympics Texas (SOTX). This double-elimination, slow-pitch softball tournament welcomes teams of 9–12 players, and with our free agent option, you can join even if you don’t have a full team. The tournament features Men’s and Co-ed/Women’s divisions, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to compete. But Spring Classic is more than just softball—registration includes free food and drinks, exciting raffles, a silent auction, and a variety of activities throughout the day. Each year, Spring Classic brings together hundreds of players, alumni, and sponsors from across Texas, creating an energetic atmosphere while supporting an incredible cause. Both Texas Iron Spikes and Special Olympics Texas are registered 501(c)(3) organizations, making all donations fully tax-deductible. Whether you’re a lifelong athlete or stepping onto the field for the first time, Spring Classic is the perfect way to have fun, build community, and make a meaningful impact.
Supporting Special Olympics Texas
Over the past 18 years, Texas Iron Spikes has hosted the annual Spring Classic Softball Tournament to raise funds for Special Olympics Texas. Over the years the event has gained in size and popularity, raising well over $250,000 dollars for Special Olympics Texas.
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Special Olympics Texas is a year-round movement, holding more than 300 competitions annually on area, regional and state levels. Event divisions are based on age, gender and ability level to give athletes an equal chance to win. Each participant receives a medal or ribbon following their events.
Special Olympics Texas has six statewide events annually: Summer Games, Equestrian, Sailing/Kayaking, Fall Classic, Winter Games and Flag Football. Statewide competition locations vary approximately every three years. Special Olympics, Inc. holds World Games every other year and USA National Games every four years.
