Special olympics texas

As our main philanthropy, Special Olympics Texas is a large part of our service in the community. We do a great deal to raise money for the cause through fundraising, throwing events like our annual Spring Classic Softball Tournament, and donating through sponsors and other events.

Texas Iron Spikes also helps maintain the Alamo Community Garden close to UT Austin. The garden volunteers and caretakers enjoy our presence and assistance with routine garden maintenance every weekend during the semester.  Keeping the garden clean is an example of the commitment Iron Spikes has made to better their communities through their daily actions.

Rookie Service Projects

Every semester, the current Rookie class will plan and execute 1-2 service projects over the course of their Rookie semester. These projects are community-oriented, receiving wide appreciation from the Texas Iron Spikes actives, other spirit/service organizations, and the local people of Austin whom the Rookies are serving. The Rookie service projects are crucial to the development of the class’ leadership, camaraderie, and presence in the community.
